I have given it plenty of listens this week. It's not overwhelming me as previous albums.
I liked the way she opened though, noise as in a Swans-type of way, with the loose percussion and assorted strands of noise bouncing off each other- she had been listening to Anna Von Hausswolff there. Great stuff. But outside of a quirky, almost Japanese-like pop song there, I'm losing track of what I hear pretty quickly. The second album sort of gets mired in the same keyboardy midpaced balladry throughout and could do with something electrifying.
This is an album you need to dissect through the layers of mist thrown up by keyboards to check what is going on within the tracks and I am not sure if I have the patience to do that every time.
Not saying it is bad but Loud City Song was lots more diverse and showed that she was comfortable with anything from pop, torch song, modem jazz and alt.rock.
