Mike Myers: not as good as his brother

Postby naughty boy » 06 Nov 2018, 13:55

Some of you might be interested in the Queen-related stuff, but there's an anecdote about George Harrison here which moved me to tears.

(starts around 7:00)

and Mike Myers is such a sweet man, which makes the tale even more satisfying to hear.

I like Mike Myers, but he's not the greatest storyteller, is he?

I've met Mike Myers older brother, who's a musician. He was part of a power pop duo called the Paul and John (He was the Paul, Paul Myers).

He's a Beatles nut and the band wasn't bad. As I'm sure Mike used to listen to his brother play Beatles songs and such, it was probably a pretty big influence.

A good friend of mine was in music publishing and worked with his wife at the SF Chronicle's book division, and then Paul, as he wrote some books on rock and roll.

Here's link to the Paul and John's music site: https://thepaulandjohn.bandcamp.com/

The Inner Sunset refers to a San Francisco neighborhood.

Paul wrote a terrific book on Todd Rundgren some years back.

Maybe 'how much is $12 worth today?' is the route to thread success

I mentioned his brother because Myers did regarding the song. I thought it might be interesting.

Maybe you should post some rules for your threads so it doesn't become an interesting conversation amongst people.

He did, that's right, now that you remind me.

I know this violates Coan's post rules, but so be it.

What happened to his film career?

Start a thread listing his films and mention which ones are available on Blu-ray. That'll get Matt Wilson all excited and we can rest knowing his lusts have been directed elsewhere for the evening.

The brother? Never got going, so he wrote a book on Todd Rundgren instead.

The story was that George very gently advised him never to use words like "retarded" in a pejorative fashion.

His last words, I believe.
