Yes it was. I'm glad I read it but I noticed Ian McNabb wrote in the next month to say they should never have published it.

I sort of skim read the article in a shop. It was a bit sad, but not all that surprising. Someone like McCulloch was always going to struggle with middle age and a declining career. It seemed quite an empathetic portrait, rather than muck-raking. The sad thing is without those details of his reduced circumstances it would never have been a cover story. The Bunnymen aren't one of Mojo's A-list and without it a new interview would just have been a one page article inside the magazine somewhere.
The Bunnymen now are absolutely no different to those nostalgia acts who used to play the cabaret circuit in the 70s. I don't begrudge them it, they've got to earn a living, but we should stop treating them as if they're a fully functioning, creative rock band.
