Northern Soul recommendations
It’s a genre I know basically nothing about but my current addiction to the Frankie Valli pick in round two match one of the 70s Cup makes me wonder if I should explore it more.
Recommendations for top tunes greatly appreciated.

I don't know where to start!
It sounds like you like the poppier, less soulful end of things. I'm trying to think of something like the Valli track...try this one:
This was the big track that always used to close the night at Wigan

Only because it was so rare and some mug paid 5 grand for it. It's actually a pretty average track.

I know, but it's got a driving beat for the talcum-powdered dancefloor.

a favorite:
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

I don't own any compilations.
I always thought it was very overrated although I'm sure there are gems

Depends where you draw the line. A lot of it is 60s Motown - and how fucking great is THAT?
There's A Ghost In My House is the best thing ever, of course (the version with the title repeated throughout)

There's a lot of great stuff and it spans a big area. It can seem a bit of a bottomless pit, but even the second rate stuff is fun.

It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

Well, yeah, I've never understood the line and just always considered Motown, well, Motown rather than Northern Soul.
Surely a couple of decent comps would do the job though?

If you want a starter comp, this is a good one which has most of the big hitters..
