Re: Ray's Photos
Part one continues to sift through the slim pickings from August, while part two gets stuck into the print scans archive.
Winding Down
It's still officially summer, but the garden starts to get tired in the middle of the month.
Downhill Racer
Scrap chases a ball in Shobrooke Park
Shades of Green
My, That's a Big One
Scrap's lead for scale
Funnel of Love
Tomorrow, out and about again

Re: Ray's Photos
Part one digs into the transparency archives from the late 80s or so, while part two gets all giddy and floral in the late August garden
Peak Candle
I've shown several from this batch before, but this is I think the best of them. Carlton Mansion, late 1980s
Saltford Weir
Town on the Avon between Bristol and Bath, taken with long lens from Lansdown or Kelston Round Hill
Rural Georgian
Shell doorcase on a rustic stone farmhouse: last two and all following from a walk somewhere up high between Kelston and Oldland
Looking Down on Bristol
Stairway
Family Portrait
Chip, Looly and Sal, Mangotsfield, 1989, probably
Spindrift
Breaking
Both somewhere in West Cornwall (I think), from holiday at Marazion in the late 1980s, probably 1989.
More from this holiday next time

Re: Ray's Photos
Part one today takes in the last of August with some more florals, while part two continues the Cornish holiday snaps from the late 1980s, scanned from slides
Scented Stars
Phlox grown from seed
Budding Up
The Shrub roses are getting their second flush on
Apricotty
Rosa 'Lady Emma Hamilton'
Rich Pickings
Cut dahlias
As I've hardly taken any photos this month, I'll be suspending the current series for a bit, and tomorrow we'll be doing a double dip into the archives

Re: Ray's Photos
Part Two
All these from a holiday in West Cornwall: sorry I can't identify the particular places (apart from St Michael's Mount, which is hard to mistake for anything else); I did keep a diary of each holiday, but they've been packed away for a while
Emergency Stop
Sally slams on the anchors as she realizes that the sea is coming right back at her

The last two pictures are not unconnected
Westward
Across Mount Bay
Sweep
Between a Rock and a Wet Place
Oystercatchers (I think)
High Tide
St Michael's Mount
More from here, and some print scans, tomorrow

Re: Ray's Photos
Part Two
Sweets Various
Jill, who became our cleaner and friend in the mid-90s, serves Ruth, Chip's long-time friend and Brizzle resident,
at the station cafe on the old rail branch line, now cycle path, between Bristol and Bath
Butch Number
Puppy and apprentice bruiser, presumably met on a walk, as I don't recognize him as a grown up dog
Mango Sunset
Ruth, Chip and Sally on Mangotsfield Common. This picture and the next one dates these three to 1987, the year
Chip moved to Mangotsfield, and I can tell by the angle of the shadows cast by the setting sun, it's early autumn.
Skylined
Long-lensed London landmarks from the office of Webster's, publishers of Webster's Wine Guides,
above Moss Bros in Covent Garden
Rellies
Oh I thought at first this must be Xmas, because why else would I be spending time with ma, various aunts
and uncle Ed at Aunt Cissie's place? But the lack of paper hats means this must be a birthday party for Ciss,
which means it's October 13, 1987, when she turned 68. I know the year because of the next but one pic. Edwin,
Hilda, Cissie, Bounds Green, London
Eva and Ma
Same event as above. Eva was the widow of Ma's fourth older brother, Ernie. She worked with Ma fifty years before in a laundry, when Ma was a teenager and Eva in her early twenties. Here's a pic, Eva in centre, Ma on the right.
Crash
The aftermath of the storm/hurricane of 16 October 1987, my 39th birthday. I think this was in Brighton, soon after.
Certainly all the next batch are from Brighton
Back tomorrow, I hope

Re: Ray's Photos
Sorry about yesterday - long day house-hunting and taking a walk on the beach with Him and Herself left me shattered when I got in, so today I'm getting them in early and slipping in a few more than usual by way of compensation.
Part One, from the prints archive, is feeling kind of chilly in Kenn, sometime between Xmas and Twelfth Night in the years 2007-9. Part One is in Brighton, in the aftermath of the great storm October 16 1987, from scanned transparencies
’Tis the Season to Be Holly
Looks Like a Bunch of Pricks to Me
Ginger Round the Roots
Faux Fireplace
Bear Storm Off Kilter
apologies to OCDers and Pippa
Gone Garden
Main Drag
Minor Drag
Kez on the wrong side of the fence again
Iconic
Lovely Grubs
Well, peanuts - only the best at our avian restaurant. Goldfinches chow down.
Part two follows later today
