- car wouldn't start this morning
- they spilled my drink on me at the drive through
- parking garage entry was closed
- paperwork was all delayed
- then I had to update THAT based on delayed information
- clients acting up, being complicated
- star employee's mother had another stroke, she's half paralyzed so he can't work
- other star employee struggling not to be homeless on our terrible pay so he can't work
- office ceiling has been dripping for a week...sometimes it's like a downpour
- bank entrance was closed
- assistant getting some procedure so she can't work
- that means I'm here until 10pm
- daughter decided to up and pee in the middle of the school playground
- long-time employee nearly cried while I was giving him a terrible performance review

basically fuck this most "Monday" of Mondays

The Eagles Greatest Hits has now overtaken Thriller as the best-selling LP of all-time in the US.

Who wants to know what the third best-selling album is?

Hotel California.

Streaming, folks. It's how they calculate sales now.

A nice white band replacing a black singer.....
Symptomatic for America, more likely.

Maybe so, but then Thriller overtook it.

This is new info, Charlie.

Been awake for 24 hours.

I think the 90s Cup is to blame.

I am just back from my mothers funeral. It all went off very well, and my sisters all excelled themselves in making it an emotional , but positive day. I saw family, friends and relations I haven't seen for years, and they were all wonderful. Even enduring an hour and a half of a requiem mass wasn't too arduous. The priest was a close friend of my mothers, and he was clearly very fond of her, giving us an insight into he passion for the church and everything around it. I am very glad she found a place she could be at peace with her church again. I have meetings with auctioneers and valuers later in the week, but this whole affair finally feels like it is winding up at last.

In other news, my mother in law seems to be deteriorating rather faster than we anticipated. Bid rang her on Monday, and talked to her for a full half hour, but there was no recognition of who she was. She was using her best Hyacinth Bucket voice, and was clearly bluffing when asked any details on any subject. Which is a bit depressing. We are going over at the end of the month, and our expectations are very low indeed. Hopefully she will have a better chance of knowing who we are if she sees us. If it is still no good, we will have to rethink our visiting routines, and maybe increase how often we go over. It is very difficult to know what to do for the best. At least her physical health remains robust, and she seems to be thriving in the home.

That's good to hear, Yomp (about your mother's affairs, not so much about your M.I.L)

On a similar note, I just received my half of the proceeds from the sale of my mom's house. My mother insisted that my sister and I split it, but my sister and I have both agreed not to spend any in case my mom needs it somewhere down the road. She's living with my sister now, but there's no guarantee that she won't require long-term care eventually. I'm going to my bank after work today to deposit it and to figure out the best way to keep it so that it can earn a bit of interest.

All the best Michael. Did I understand correctly that you also were in the process of moving house yourself?
