Jandek's second album, classic solo acoustic 'dek. Really is everything you expect from the man, slow strummed guitar with random twangs and pings, and his murmured mumbling arcane poetry. Intimate and impenetrable.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Sylvian and Derek Bailey. It’s an odd combination but seems to work on certain songs.

Getting the feeling that I should have got this album before now.

Second-division industrial/ebm type thing from the late 90s. One of those bands who aren't massively derivative, but somehow don't strike you as being particularly inventive either. Has a really good cover of Jon & Vangelis' "I'll Find My Way Home".

Just got the CD throught the post, the protective wrapping being a Toys R Us advert for Barbie dolls.

If there was only one band from the whole witch-house thing that you thought could go on and record something great, White Ring were it. Somehow though, the debut album being released 8 years later than their last EP, I'm not filled with confidence. First track is alright though, it has to be said.

That's brilliant. I wonder if that's a coincidence or they were making a statement there.

Did you get the reissue on Profound Lore? I love the extra song but I wish the album art was the same as the original self-released one. It's much better.

and again. Not sure why I'm somewhat obsessed with this record.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Youtubing this collaboration between Zu and Current 93. This is getting some decent reviews at the moment, but it feels like one of C93's less inspired efforts so far.

This was one of the most otherworldly musical experiences I've had in a long time. Really brilliant stuff.

Edit: "Shepherds, Hurry to Your Fields" is breathtaking and officially one of my favorite pieces of music ever written.

In particular, Exodus, as heard in Terrence Malick's Knight of Cups, a stately, Bolero-type thing.

I have about 3 hours of paperwork today. Mostly preparing all my syllabi for the coming semester. I might as well use this opportunity to listen an album about 3 hours long.
