Fucking great.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

A statue of David Bowie has been vandalized less than 48 hours after being unveiled.

The likeness is terrible. Can we call last orders on bronze statues, they're gicky.

Re: David Bowie RIP
We went to the Bowie exhibit in Brooklyn on Sunday, the last stop for it. If you are planning on going DON’T READ ANY MORE as there are spoilers.
They’ve got an additional, final section. It’s a small glass case with Bowie’s notebooks and drawings during the time he was sick and dying. A notebook with a Blackstar on the cover. His handwriting, all crazy and frantic. It was a bit like a sledgehammer to the knees. His family must have handed it over, but I am not sure I wanted to see it. Clearly he expressly said he wanted people to see it.
On Saturday we did a small pilgrimage with a lily outside his flat and then a stroll to his favourite local cafe where he used to sit for hours. I had some poached eggs and then went and sat on the crapper in the knowledge that I was pissing in the same place Bowie had pissed many times.
A zen like peace came over me and I flushed the last of my sadness away.
There’s a load of construction going on outside his flat. I bet his wife is going berserk.

I think the flat next door was for sale. I originally thought she had moved too, but it wasn’t the same building.

Nervous Ned wrote:I think I posted earlier on this thread, but I can’t find it. This is all very subjective, but what I found was that Morley was good on the Golden Years. I’m roughly the same generation as him so his observations about those times tends to fit in with mine. As the narrative moves into the 80’s and beyond his comments become sketchy...probably because there is less Morely can write about albums like Tonight, Tin Machine or BTWN.
There is a very interesting book waiting to be published about this period. For a preview read the relevant entries from Chris O’Leary’s blog ‘Pushing Ahead of the Dame’ ... I think ‘Ashes to Ashes’ will be published this year. I assume it will follow the format of ‘Rebel Rebel’ (chronological song entries) but it should also read well as a biography.

I finished the Morley book tonight - and really liked it. I mean, it’s not for non Bowie fans. Younhave to be happy and agreeable to such a level of obsession- and I am. And as I’m generally not interested in the intense level of detail about the making of albums that I don’t LOVE - his non 70s output basically - then I didn’t mind the dip in detail.

The lass and I had a Bowie night with a friends kids. They're 15 and 17 and big Bowie fans so we watched the Ziggy Stardust film and The Man Who Fell To Earth.
They were very excited to see Bowies willy
