This is a good example of what I find likable and distancing about them at the same time.
On the one hand, it's a got a tune, and I do like the way he suddenly goes from singing to bellowing in his startling way. The flugelhorn solo (or whatever it is) adds some atmosphere.
But it's hard for me not to start picturing some black-and-white Popeye cartoon after a while, with Bluto and Olive Oyl doing a sea chanty on the shore with their squeezeboxes stomping their feet. And the wide-eyed, dumbshit mysticism about being anything at all and so on at the end is charming only because it's a bit like listening to a stupid person.
