I’ve never even been to me.

I got redirected to Bucharest airport last week for about 90 minutes.
I was told it was nicer than Sofia, but I didn't get chance to leave the plane.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

A mate took a month to travel around the whole of the Ukraine a few years ago and he said it was amazing.
I'm thinking about doing a trip next year around the European capital cities I haven't seen, starting at Helsinki and going south. Something like that, anyway.

I’ve been to Tirana, via Greece. It’s got a fantastic mix of architecture and if you like soviet monuments to the worker, of which I’m a big fan, you’ll love it. The museums are great as is the mosque in the city centre.

Let’s hope the internet hasn’t reached these godforsaken outposts.

I've been to Skopje and Minsk. The former isn't the greatest tourist destination ever, BUT. 1) it still has things to see, principally the fortress and the old market. 2) it's dirt cheap and 3) Macedonia isn't the biggest country ever, so you can reach most destinations by bus or train without issues. Hell, if you've got time, you can even do as I did and do one trip starting in Tivat, Montenegro and ending in Budapest, Hungary, that went through Podgorica (Montenegro), Nis (Serbia), Skopje (Macedonia), Belgrade (Serbia), Banja Luka (Bosnia/Republika Srpska), Sarajevo (Bosnia), Belgrade again, Novi Sad (Serbia) and Budapest .
11/10 trip, would do again in a heartbeat.
Minsk was much more alive and dynamic than what I would have expected, but you can see that the country is actually still a republic of the USSR in the way foreigners are allowed into the country. I was only there for 2 days for professionnal reasons, so I can't really say more...

I’ve been to Helsinki. It was ok but not worth making a special effort to see. We only went as a starting point for our train journey to St Petersburg and onto Estonia. Which was nice.
