Evidently, Brian is OK with this.

I've heard worse. Like most of Brian's solo albums.

Why wouldn't he be OK with it? What does it require of him beyond endorsing the checks?

I really don't know -- have the Beach Boys been doing symphony dates? If not; now they have the charts, and this could open a while new revenue stream.

They toured Pet Sounds with the orchestra a handful of times with Brian's band. And I have seen him at Hollywood Bowl a handful of times, I recall there was a "symphonic suite" of BB melodies played at one of those.

I'm not bothered by it. ALl the old rockers are dying, of course they're going to find a way to keep performing the repertore.

Thanks. Then there is an official (not that this isn't) precedent.

If only Brian had thought to use strings on "Ten Little Indians" and "Suzie Cincinatti"!

It's no Hollyridge Strings, but it'll do.

Don't think Brian has any say. It's Mike Love who owns the rights to the band name. Remember, he was happy to use Brian, Al Jardine and David Marks for the 50th Anniversary album and tour, but got rid of them as soon as he could afterwards to go back to exploiting the back catalogue on the road with his lickspittle Bruce Johnston.
We're usually skipping around the function room in our long-johns by now...
