I always had a thing for All About Eve, they always seemed to be the perennial support band for the Mish or related
band, were slightly shambolic live and the crowd were usually arseholes to them so it could get a bit tetchy when
they played. Anyway, first album was decent the second was fairies down the garden crap, Tim Left and then
Church guitar guru, Marty Wilson Piper turned up and that really stirred things up. They made 'Touched by Jesus'
which showed promise but then they delivered 'Ultraviolet' which is a rather marvellous psychedelic/shoe-stare
noise fest. They got some flac for trying to ape Curve at the time, fans were horrified, gig attendances dwindled
and they eventually split. But this is a fabulous album, its their 'Achtung Baby' if you like. The old band is still there
under this noise veneer. Jules sounds great, Marty has never been as OTT on guitar on any other recorded album
he's been on. It can be a bit pricey to buy these days on ceedee, but I'm sure the 'tube has it.
