Lovely stuff! My wife went to my record shop and asked what I would like for my birthday and was sold that, so I am enormously fond of that album - it's their masterpiece.

I thought of this, first:

I think he sold some records a few years later but this was better than the hit album.

I always had a thing for All About Eve, they always seemed to be the perennial support band for the Mish or related
band, were slightly shambolic live and the crowd were usually arseholes to them so it could get a bit tetchy when
they played. Anyway, first album was decent the second was fairies down the garden crap, Tim Left and then
Church guitar guru, Marty Wilson Piper turned up and that really stirred things up. They made 'Touched by Jesus'
which showed promise but then they delivered 'Ultraviolet' which is a rather marvellous psychedelic/shoe-stare
noise fest. They got some flac for trying to ape Curve at the time, fans were horrified, gig attendances dwindled
and they eventually split. But this is a fabulous album, its their 'Achtung Baby' if you like. The old band is still there
under this noise veneer. Jules sounds great, Marty has never been as OTT on guitar on any other recorded album
he's been on. It can be a bit pricey to buy these days on ceedee, but I'm sure the 'tube has it.

ah, it's actually from 2001. Could have sworn I was playing this to death at university which was in the 90s. Memory playing tricks...

Yeah buddy.

I had such fond memories of playing that thing over and over and seeing the Turks multiple times throughout the back half of the 90's and early 2000's but hadn't listened to them in about a decade. I cautiously picked up that 20th anniversary vinyl reissue and was surprised that it sounds even better today. We really need the Turks back with us.

Quite possibly the best band I have ever seen live.

I love them unreservedly. Saw them multiple times, hung out with Matt and Eric when they played the Garage on their last tour here. The records rip, I stil play em weekly. They are still active, playing the occasional festival in Europe. I saw them in Belgium 2 years ago. Eric’s book We Never Learn is a great read.

I wasn't aware that Os Mutantes were active in the 90's.

Well actually they weren’t but this album was recorded in ‘73 but for some reason not released until ‘92!

That's one of my favorite records of the decade, and that band couldn't get arrested. I saw them three or four times always with less than 100 people in the place. This album should have been the best received of Rick SIms' career, instead they were doomed.

I will say they did themselves no favors with that name - they were on tour at the time of 9/11 and I noticed they were removed from the listings in some local papers. It's not that funny of a pun.
