I'm conflicted about whether this is good or not. In one respect, it's pretty shameful because it seems like the club are essentially looking for a reason to sack him. But then just sack him.

Perhaps on the other hand there is a vocal minority of fans who are projecting about how much they dislike him, when many fans might be more circumspect. He's done the job he was asked to do - keep them up after a dreadful start to the season.

I've yet to meet an Everton fan, besides Griff, who wanted him. Even given the circumstances and context of our league position at the time.

I'll be charitable - he's got us safe.

Well done Sam. Now here's your pay off. Go.

"Sit down Sam, we've got the results of the survey...."

I'd love to see the results.

He did what he was charged to do but Everton will not progress with him in charge.

If Real fail to win the Champions league of course he might get a shot at the job he was destined to do

Prepare to be surprised then..this season is as good as it'll get for him in the league with Utd.

Do you think? I just don't think Utd, or Mourinho, will after 5 years accept another year of not winning the league, and will do anything - anything - to win it back again. Buy any player, resort to any tactic. Ugly, uglier, ugliest. The transition period is over. It will be hard for City to emulate this year - if history is anything to go by they've not been great in the year following their previous title wins - but yes of course maybe we're in for a period where they will dominate. Liverpool a bit of a wild card if they can sustain this great form and strengthen in a couple of areas.

I'm just not sure where they're going. It's difficult to see them progressing with their current system of play. Plus there's just a general air of dissatisfaction around the club which means they're only ever a few defeats away from a crisis.

It seems to me pretty clear where they are going, and have been for a while: win at any cost.
That can only go so far, of course, but if you throw enough money at a problem you can usually get at least some short-term success.

No team hasn't retained the title since Man Utd in 2008 but when look at the potential challengers it's only Liverpool who are on the up.

Spurs haven't taken that extra step and I'm not sure they ever will now. Arsenal are on the slide as are Chelsea although there is more chance of the latter regrouping but who will be there next season? Man Utd may be second but things are clearly not right there and I would be skeptical about a title challenge next season.

The pundits last night were saying the toby alderweireld contract situation could be a sign of things to come with spurs and a sign of why they'll never make that leap. Levy could be the reason spurs never make as big as they should be on their current course. Forgetting about players for a minute, what about if he doesn't want to pay the manager what he deserves. He might not be able to replace these players like Levy thinks, as for the manager, that will be harder again.

Who knows how the new revenue stream of the new White Hart Lane will change the wage structure at Spurs, if it will at all.

That was the case yes, but I think the bar has been raised. Are they united and positive enough to take on their competitors? I have my doubts.

They lost Walker as well of course and Danny Rose doesn't seem that happy either. They're getting to a make or break stage.

I don't rate Rose as much as other people. He dives when he's in trouble and usually gets away with it like Cashley Cole did. I think he'll get found out sooner or later.

Cole was arguably the best left back in the world, after Maldini, for a few seasons. He's certainly the best LB England has produced for decades.

Tardelli a left- back? What planet are you on?

Cabrini was LWB, Tardelli was a central midfielder.

Cole easily the best left-back in the world since Lizarazu.

He wasn't even the best left-back at Arsenal.
