It seems a long way from Luca. How long ago was that?
It is nicely produced, and well played.

The Luca cd was 2013. The new band are three quarters of Luca, new singer and with the couple of years between releases they evolved a bit.

Like it very much, the singer nails it for me...
The video... well, I could do a better one for them...
but guess it suit its purpose, so no biggie

I like the song, it's good, but the singer is distracting. He looks like he's either hemorrhaging from a brain tumor or swatting flies in slow motion

I can't say it's exactly up my street, it sounds somewhere between Crowded House and Keane, with a tiny hint of Alt-J. But if it's any consolation your son might not rate my current work in trying to delete financial data in accordance with Spanish data protection regulations.

Re: Long-Distance. My Son's Band
The band this track brought to my mind - as much for song construction and production sound as the performances – was The Blue Nile. Which is a good thing in my world. And I liked Mr Gibbins's voice, although, as usual, I didn't actually pick out more than 10% of the words. I thought it was pretty good, which sounds like faint praise, but isn't.

Re: Long-Distance. My Son's Band
Is this a side-gig thing for your son or his day job the side gig?
That's no comment on the music, but just interested to understand how committed your son and his bandmates to the music.
In college, I worked at lots of record stores with guys in bands - the record store was my way of getting extra money, but for the guys in bands, it was simply a way to pay the rent and dress the way they wanted to at work. I was definitely the square guy on staff.

Alt-J and Blue Nile do come to mind (although the singer's gestures are a bit distracting). I like Be A Man a lot, but Grail is a bit eeeerr... nondescript.

Re: Long-Distance. My Son's Band
The singer is definitely the weak link, but I suppose that's the style now (says the cranky old man shaking his fist). The music's very good. Which one's David? (Hopefully not the singer .)
EDIT: Ah, he must be the drummer. My other criticism is it's too hard to find any information about them on line.
SECOND EDIT: Oh, you already said that.

I thought he was okay, just hard to look at. You're singing a song, not going through an exorcism.

Some answers
The band is the main thing, work is the side gig.
They have a Facebook page, they have been working solidly for the past few years, playing gigs now and then. They plan to be more active now.
The song is about in part the death of his father and trying to fill his space and "Be A Man" so I think a few things are being worked through.

Re: Long-Distance. My Son's Band
Videos always distract so my judgement without watching just listening is I like the song and the singer. Best of luck to your son and Long-Distance. (That is the band name, right?)
