Re: Kraftwerk : Song by Song
Thanks for posting these!
Been ages since I listening to them.
Have the original LPs and the bootleg CDs, but somehow they have been
neglected by me through the years.
They are great!

Re: Kraftwerk : Song by Song
For some reason, I never got round to buying Kraftwerk 2, though I have everything almost else by them. I still think they didn't reach greatness until Radio-Activity, but I'm going to revisit all this early stuff myself.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Strom
Probably the one moment where Kraftwerk and Popol Vuh came very close! That murky period between 1971 and 1973 is very appealing to all Krautrock aficionados...

Most of this is a bit hard going, to be honest.
But, if they hadn't dicked around with experimenting, they wouldn't have become the band I know and love.

I always thought they looked like a serial killer/lawyer pairing on this cover. That hair/glasses/smirk combo on Ralf, and Florian's awkward well-dressed, don't want to be here pose. Musically, it seems that they're trying to find a new direction, without being entirely confident where they're headed. I've played this a good few times, but nothing really stands out for me.

And so the magic begins.
Musically, melodically and electronically, this song is part of the steep learning curve and evolution.
Not a classic, but I hear the seeds of great things to come. Kometenmelodie is peeking through.

Beautiful, beautiful music.
Why aren't there more people commenting?
Kraftwerk were kind of a big deal in our culture.

They look like Steely Dan , thankfully they don't sound like them.

A Steely Dan song by song: now there’s a good idea.

Kristallo
The first hint of that icy, crystalline sound that would emerge with "Hall of Mirrors". A slightly amusing, rather bonkers ending too!

Yeah, despite earlier saying nothing stands out, that's easily the best track on the album. A proper bridge between the early material and what was to come.

What amazes me regarding the original vinyl,
is the sound quality.
It really stands out!
Glad to have it!
