I can't vote for any of these, so by default my vote goes to White Town's "Your Woman".
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I've had that Len song as a bloody earworm all day long. :x That chorus is fucking catchy, i'll give it that. For trivia buffs though, the hook is taken from a tiny sample from the bridge section of Andrea True's disco hit 'More More More'.

If you don't want to get your full disco on, just click up to 2:20...

Charles 'N' Eddie is the one I'd actively choose to listen to. A couple of the others are OK on the radio - but I never actually listen to the radio.

The Len one actively annoys me.

The Babylon Zoo one is equal parts brilliant and shit. It would have been amazing in about 1981 but has too much '90s tackiness about it.

Of course all of these artists had careers beyond these hits, but it's not surprising they were only known for the one biggie ESPECIALLY IN THE CASE OF TASMIN ARCHER

You follow up the big hit with something similar, right? especially if you're not talented enough to write something equally great in a different style?

clueless

The Babylon Zoo fella is some kind of film mogul apparently. On Google there's a picture of him looking dapper in a suit and goatee with Ice T and some busty blonde woman.

No they aren’t!
Of the four I know, the only one I don’t hate is the New Radicals. And weren’t they a poor man’s James!? I mean ...

Would I Lie To You is an absolute classic, as good as any Philly.
Anybody with ears should get that, this stuff ain't hard.

Play it! Anna will sing along to it with you! It's picked up a reputation in the UK as a real pop classic.

Geez, i wouldn't go that far G. It's a nice enough bit of radio pop-soul, but it's pretty lightweight stuff.

It’s awful, I’d be surprised if G isn’t preparing a Londonbeat thread as I type.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

Small mercies that Lisa Loeb hasn’t cropped up I suppose.

For the longest time I thought that New Radicals tune was World Party.

Makes me think of another poll: singer songwriters who always wear fedoras.

Tom Waits and Mark Eitzel, the godfathers.

I loved Sleeping Satellite and my wife loved Would I Lie To You, so those are the two I chose.
