NUT soon to be National Education Union as we move to a full merger with ATL.

I was a member of the NUT for 22 years.

Merging with the ATL...?

I still haven't forgiven the NASUWT (as it was then) for splitting from the NUT in 1926...!

I've been a member for 26 years, school rep for the last 10 (ish) & health & safety officer for my division.

Yes, we're currently running alongside each other & a full merger happen on Jan 1st 2019. It is open to teachers, education support staff & support staff.

i still give songs from the wood the slightest of edges. just becuz it had such a direct impact on the course of my life. (well, it did.)

i do love stormwatch too, more than other folk. especially the softer tracks. elegy is my own personal candle in the window. dun ringill, my own personal lyric.

I always maintain that Heavy Horses is one reason why punk had to happen; Songs about cats, dogs and commuters. The band are in DJ’s on the back cover sipping sweet sherry (probably). How could this possibly appeal to teenagers? My mate had the album at the time and while I didn’t hate it it didn’t fire my imagination.
Fast forward to the early 2000’s and I was picking up the Tull catelogue cheap via the remasters ... I am in my 40’s and the penny finally dropped. IA had written a mature, complex record for listeners of more er senior years!
A commuter myself, Journeyman resonates. A dog lover and Rover makes me smile as I remember hounds past and present. I have no kids, but I can see how No Lullaby would connect with a new parent. Acres Wild celebrates life in a market town but, along with HH itself warns of the encroaching threat of urban life.
And the music!
... am I the only one who thinks ‘Mouse Police’ is utterly sublime? The whole band locked together to produce something really special?
Heavy Horses is always a spring listen for me. Sunny evenings, the smell of grass cuttings, leisurely walks holding hands with Mrs Ned. So I’ll see you in 6/8 weeks time. February-March is more a SFTW OR Warchild time.

I wouldn't class anything on that list as poor, but Aqualung suffers from over exposure for me, but I dare say I will come back to it at some stage with fresh ears and new love!

I have to have another listen to Broadsword - love the title track but need to re acquaint myself with the rest.

Benefit and Stand Up are of course are fantastic , but at the moment I am enjoying the fuller and more complex songs of the albums that followed, both have a simpler more straightforward sound, which obviously has its own , er... benefits!
