On the weekend of 9 December, I ventured forth to That London (via the south Wales home of the sponsor of this trip, Phil the Prof) to visit old friends I hadn't seen for over a decade - my football team, currently camped out in Wembley, and a uni pal (and room-mate in no less than three student lets) and her family out Wimbledon way.

Ma is obscured in this one. The one on the left is grumpy Aunt Glad. She is how I can date this with confidence, as she died the following year. The token male is the only surviving spouse, Edwin, married to The Hatchet. A friendly and funny man, but cringe-makingly patronisingly racist.
