Top be honest, I suspect that she hasn't a clue, but she needs to surround herself with more knowledgeable people and wiser counsel.

Similarly, the Dostoyevsky estate had four years to sue the shit out of Iggy, but they let it lie.

Why do you think that? Because she is female perhaps? I mean it was OK when the Replacements called their album Let It Be wasn't it?

Although I can hear the similarities it sound like a natural progression to me, not too dissimilar to The Impossible Dream.

Yes, it is because she is a lady and I am a big fat sexist.

I once co-wrote a song that I was told ripped off The Cure’s Just Like Heaven. I was outraged!

The chords were actually ripped from an obscure Jesus Couldn’t Drum tune!

And I thought I’d gotten away with it!
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

I do know she's generated more publicity for herself via this than she's had in bloody ages, even though Radiohead deny suing her, all for a song which would've escaped public notice otherwise.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

The album got to #1 in the UK and US - lawyers activated!

 I was being cheeky. But do tell me why you "suspect she hasn't a clue"...

I just assume that no one on a major label has much of a clue about anything that goes on around them nowadays. Even the most independent and punchy artists seem to have to assimilate into a machine that maps out everything for them like an X Factor winner and they just ride the wave.

I'm missing your reference. As far as I'm aware, this was the first use of the phrase as a title:

It may have been a calculated risk. From my limited experience with big labels, everybody is very aware of any possible lifts and samples. There are people whose job it is simply to look for these things. We had some staticky noise from a radio station coming through a wah-wah, and they made us remix it so you couldn't perceive any hint of melody.

I don't think Radiohead give a fuck to be honest. They're savy business people behind the scenes. I think they like set up a company for every album they make, especially if there's a tour.

There's a resemblance for sure but really Creep is one of those songs that fit into the Axis of Awesome's "4 Chord" sketch - it's everywhere. It's almost a bit comical to be suing over it - and i guess they are not.

The fact that they're savvy business people suggests just the opposite to me - not that they necessarily want to 'stick it to' LDR, but that they 'give a shit' in that they would try to get as much money out of her as they possibly could.

They might not 'give a shit' in that they might just let the lawyers handle it. But stuff like that suggests that they're going to make damn sure they have good lawyers getting them the most that they can.

Or we might. Remains to be seen how far they (or their lawyers) go with this. But if it turns into a long, drawn-out court case, I'm going to take that as evidence that they do indeed 'give a fuck.' (I inadvertently changed it to shit. My mistake. :D )
