AKA Antennae Jimmy Semens - died three days ago, apparently.
I was never too clear on who did what, but Wikipedia says he was responsible for the vocals on this:
and slide guitar on most other tracks.
RIP

Re: RIP Jeff Cotton
That is sad news - saw him play with the Magic Band at Middle Earth. He played all the Ry Cooder slide parts from Safe as Milk. His album(s) as part of Mu had some minor moments, too.
RIP AJS

Re: RIP Jeff Cotton
He did the vocals on “Pena”. That might be his pinched voice on “Ella Guru” too (not sure).
Also played on Strictly Personal/Mirror Man and the less-heralded but nonetheless massive Mu album. Subsequently became a Christian minister, iirc.
One talented dude. RIP

Re: RIP Jeff Cotton
I'd always heard it was him that sings Pena, and the spoken bit on The Blimp.
John French tells the story of certain members of the band turning on him & beating the shit out of him at some point during the Trout Mask ordeal.
I sometimes wonder... am I morally compromised listening to it, knowing its creation produced some horrible abuse?
RIP Jeff Cotton, thanks for the great guitar playing.

RIP Jeff. You were part of something great

Re: RIP Jeff Cotton
Apparently he's still alive and well, according to a couple of Facebook posts which I can't link to from here.
The Wiki death date has gone, anyway.
I never understand why anyone would start such rumours, but anyway - some good news, I think...

Excellent news, I'd say. He's younger than I am

Any chance of Coany resurrecting Tim Buckley?

I just this morning ran into Gary Lucas (he lives near my daughter's school apparently). I'm happy report he too is still alive!

Re: Jeff Cotton lives!
Wiki death date is back up & it is noted that Gary Lucas has posted confirmation of the death in Facebook but there are no news articles.
Cheers respect and best wishes to you Jeff wherever you are!
