I think he's officially behind the times in terms of the way football is going. Too early to call him a dinosaur but he refuses to adapt, and I think other than money no real talented attacking player will want to play for him.

I’m actually happy to see Moyes and Hodgson doing better than expected. There was something unbecoming about the flak they both took after taking the jobs.

We're not out of the woods by any means, but there are good reasons for optimism. Hats off to him for energising Arnautovic, who looks like quality all of a sudden.

He does, but there must be doubts over whether he's got the discipline and determination to sustain it...we shall see.

Both West Ham and Palace are a cut above the likes of West Brom, Stoke, Swansea, Huddersfield etc. and I expect to see them pull away into mid table over the next few months. The weird one are Southampton who have some very good players, but the manager doesn't seem to know how to get them playing with any confidence.

Here’s a suggestion for something these video panels can do with their time: retrospectively cancel goals like Doucore’s today, and issue him a three-match ban instead.

I haven't seen the goal, but that seems a totally impractical suggestion. How can you cancel a goal and potentially alter the result after the match has finished

He punched the ball into the net in the 90th minute thus gaining his team a point and denying Southampton two. I’d argue that if video technology can show that a goal is scored using evidently foul means then it could be cancelled regardless of how that affects the result. You cheat, you pay.

Of course the plan is that video assistant referees will be able to do this on the spot anyway so it should be an irrelevant argument.

You can dock points for financial irregularities, illegal players used, result in being knocked out of competitions. It really isn't much of a stretch to do this if you blatantly cheat is it.

..well yes, because then you'll end up replaying matches all the time. Unless we're talking about the kind of technical infringement which are pretty rare (having 12 players on the pitch at once or fielding an illegible player, for example) then I don't see how it can be practically done.

Surely Klopp will make an offer for Buttland in the next few days.

what a brilliant game of football that was. I knew it had the potential to be a classic, but it delivered beyond expectation.

Can we bring in a rule that all teams should be awesome going forward, and the defense wears clown shoes?

There were a couple of defensive errors today, but more importantly I think the defenders were made to look bad by brilliant attacking play. In particular the pace of the pressing in that vital middle third area of the opposition half was brilliant from both sides. So many of the goals today came from turnovers in that area. You only need to misplace a pass slightly or take a slightly indifferent first touch, and boom the ball's been taken away from you and the opposition are away. The speed of the attacking was awesome to watch, and in such contrast to my own team at the moment.

Liverpool were formidable today. That front 3 is remarkable - in particular Firmino who is becoming my favourite player in the Premiership (apart from De Bruyne of course). Magnificent match too - easily the best this season.
