Well, there was no fuck off-option in the poll...
Never cared for Pulp. Jarvis just is annoying and irritating the bejesus out of me.
Pavement has never moved me. Rather listen to the Libertines.

These days i'll mostly listen to Pulp, though there are quite a few Pavement tunes i like a lot.
I've made myself an i-tunes playlist of Pulp songs that's my go-to if get that itch. The albums are generally a bit spotty for me.

That’s Pulp?
Pavement for me.
At least up until they sucked.
Slanted and Enchanted gets better and better for me.

Re: P vs P
Slight edge to Pulp...
Comes down to liking His 'n' Hers (1994) and Separations (1992) a little more than Brighten the Corners (1997) and Wowee Zowee (1995)
Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (1994) and This is Hardcore (1998) are a push, while I have Different Class (1995) over Slanted and Enchanted (1992)...

Not really a Pulp fan, but Pavement were inexcusable. So Pulp by default.

Never really listened to Pavement. Quite like Pulp, but what are they doing in Brighton?

Pulp had real pop magic for a while. Some great singles and a couple of very good/great albums.
Pavement serve no purpose. I mean just look at the cunts in that photo. They should be working in PC World

"Common People" is a majestic song, but they never released anything else worth listening to. Jarvis's appearance on that pop quiz thing in the 90s was great, too. I've probably heard some Pavement, but not enough to notice. So I think Pulp win.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Pulp. Much better songs. I don't find Pulp all that interesting musically so I don't seek them out to play at home, but I usually enjoy most of their songs if I come across them.
I don't know Pavement all that well at all but what I've heard hasn't been to my taste at all. All that slacker stuff isn't for me.

I like some Pavement stuff but never really know why. There’s not a lot there. All a bit ”quite good” isn’t it?
Jarvis Cocker is a lyricist of the highest order and for a while in the mid-90s (Different Class and half of each album either side) he combined that with some great tawdry glam pop to have something special.
Pulp then.

In Brighton in the mid '70s judging by the (good) state of the West Pier... And this is post-Russell Senior Pulp too (so after 1997)... The plot thickens.
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.
