USA vs Russia

Postby Jimbo » 21 Nov 2017, 23:05

Some of you seem to be in denial but I am sure we are on the brink of war with Russia - and it is the US along with the UK, NATO and Israel who are pushing us even closer to that brink. It is absolute madness in that there is no good reason, none, for friction between the US and Russia but, like a paranoiac, we are hearing voices chanting louder and louder, "Russia … Russia … Russia …" I just read how even though ISIS is pretty much defeated in Syria the US will keep forces there. Of course we will! Syria is another country bordering Russia and it is Russia which not only hacked the US election but now is being charged with pushing the "leave" Brexit vote and encouraging Catalonian independence. And as mad as this all seems to me, it is madder that seemingly normal people and organizations are going along with this suicidal narrative.

Last night waiting for my daughter to get out of class, they were interviewing Jake Bernstein, who has just written a book, "Secrecy World: Inside the Panama Papers Investigation of Illicit Money Networks and the Global Elite."

Because of Trump's bankruptcies and civil lawsuits, banks dried up for him. What didn't dry up for him were the Russian oligarchs and their shadow companies who have loaned him money for his ventures.

The interview detailed many of the ties Trump has to Russia and Eastern Bloc billionaires.

No way is Trump disturbing that shit.

I'd suggest you read legitimately researched books like the one mentioned above before you come up with these half baked cockamany theories.

I've decided to be doomed. Every decision about what to do today becomes much simpler once I remind myself that I'm OK with my own doom. Long as I'm doomed, may as well have some bacon on that. Bacon's not good for you but as far as an urgent threat, it can't compete with FUCKING RUSSSSSSSSSIAAAAA!!!

It WAS really interesting to me that ISIS losing all its territory and basically ceding control back to the Syrian and Iraqi governments, was not celebrated or talked about more. Considering that 6 months ago, those guys were the damn boogeymen coming to cut your head off, it would have seemed like it merited notice that they were defeated. Not even Trump has had much to say on the topic.

But I imagine everybody is hesitant to start applauding for the same reasons I am. We aren't sure those people are not going to come back.

Also, I don't think anyone here is all that excited about "Oh yay, Assad's still in power."

I hear you and I do hear researchers like Bernstein. But if the rich are so entwined, have so much to lose if there is a big war, how is it there a simultaneous effort to bring it all down? I would have to guess there are competing elites, one: a crooked business elite, Trump, the oligarchs, various other mafiosi, two: Israel and all its interests, three: the most dangerous one, a military-industrial complex pushing false narratives to sell more and more weapons.

And then there's Kevin Spacey!

Vlad the Bad says the Olympic doping scandal is just a big lie hopped up by the Americans to influence the Russian election in 2018.
so, Obviously the USA is the bad guy!!!

Essentially I think the USA and Russia, the two most dangerously armed countries in the world, should be talking and working on peaceful solutions to problems. And on balance, I don't see how Russia is the bad guy. Ukraine? Crimea? Even if (and it isn't according to CN) what difference is it to America? It may affect some mining companies and Joe Biden's son but what is it to 99.9% of Americans? Except these 99.9% of Americans are fed anti-Russia propaganda via "Russia-gate" (which is bogus according to CN) and the taxes they pay for this outrageously out-sized and ineffective military to fight an enemy which just a few years ago wasn't. While Sloop's Bernstein is writing about who's got whose hands in whose pockets and Snee is aghast that there is doping in Olympic sports, there are still missiles, submarines, nuclear weapons, troops, cyber weapons and other secret shit. We both got 'em all and fingers are poised to pull triggers any day.

I’m not aghast at the doping, I’m aghast that Putin has the arrogance to pull that “fake news” shit and that people like you don’t see him for the HARDCORE Kleptocrat he so obviously is.

They're ALL kleptocrats! That is the state of world today. Let's just say that Putin is the Obama of kleptocrats in that he pulls it off with style and cool. After the fall of Communism the age of Yeltsin/klepto-ism arose - with a big meddling assist from the US. So Yeltsin went down and Putin arrived. In the Oliver Stone doc Putin explains how he assembled all the oligarchs in a room and laid out how it was going to work, that with their new wealth came responsibilities, order and - I won't be naive - probably kick backs to the leader. Now Russia had a capitalistic system similar to the US and the UK. Who in US leadership isn't a millionaire? But then Putin had to run the rest of Russia. Communism was gone and in it's place was a country run in a way Bernie Sanders might approve. Meanwhile, breaking "David Cop-a-feel" Bush's promise to not expand NATO, Bill Clinton expanded it thus threatening Russia with troops on its borders and missiles placed supposedly to stop Iranian missiles but could more easily destroy Moscow. Does Putin bang his shoe on a UN podium? No, he keeps his cool. And so far thats what he's done in the face of many more provocations. But now with Russia surrounded comes all this bullshit about meddling and the clampdown on RT and a US military money boost, the boost amount alone more than Russia's entire military budget, what does Putin do? He's keeping his cool. But for how long? How long until "Mad Dog" loses his?
