Although i consider myself a fan to some extent still, i practically never listen to Cave's solo albums these days. I think i am done with them.

Avalanches will be coming soon I reckon... based on it being the most overrated 60 minutes and 39 seconds of recorded music... ever.

It's a fun album which I enjoyed at the time, but it wore out its welcome fairly quickly. I'm pretty surprised people are still rating it highly over 15 years later. It's continued reputation is rather baffling.

The recent vinyl reissue had it top of mind for me. I think it holds up.

The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow If I made this list 5 years ago it would be on it. These days its back in the high 40's

The White Stripes - Elephant - ugh yeah should have picked this knew it was coming I went with another album.
Swans - The Seer - yeah this was my pick too.
Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - Before Today - really? okay I guess

Well, it is pretty unashamedly an album you can dance to, and what's wrong with '70s disco? Nothing, that's what!

For sure I had no problems with it sounding like 70s disco. I'm the last person to have a '"disco sucks" mentality towards it. It was just a bit flimsy that's all, a few decent ideas spread quite thinly and I seldom, if ever, feel like going back to it. Still, it's quite a nice counterpoint to the all the very serious music on the list. I do wish I'd voted for Daft Punk 'Discovery', but I forgot about it.

I bought that At The Drive In album at the pound shop recently and thought it was hysterical shit.

Some good albums in that bunch though. I prefer the follow up to that Shins album. Rated R is very robust and I expected to see it higher.

Into the top 40 and while there's still things coming through from the prog/avant cohort, its becoming more digestible to my mainstream ears. As I've been saying a lot, it seems, I really could/should have had Rated R in my list and Chutes Too Narrow, Halcyon Digest, The Avalanches and Elephant are all LPs that on another day...
