Re: CC GRAND FINAL- Match 1
B's another rule-bender that doesn't justify it. A is raw and ragged. Not my favorite track from it, but I've always loved the record it's from. It's gloriously fucked up.

I really like the beginning of A, but in the end, for me it gets swallowed up by

Re: CC GRAND FINAL- Match 1
A is pretty uninspired and even depressing, like most of Chilton's post-Big Star stuff.
B isn't something I'd rush to put on but it's a good example of an effective reinvention.

Re: CC GRAND FINAL- Match 1
I'm unaware of the original "Boogie Shoes" (Nope, I've never seen Saturday Night Fever), but it appears to be some kind of funk/glam crossover, I can imagine Marc Bolan singing this as his career was on the wane. I'm not really liking the hoary rock treatment Chilton's giving it, but I do appreciate the shambolic/fractured nature of the intermittent guitar. Sounds like Jandek on one of his more together albums, jamming with a drunk Lou Reed.
When I heard "Ray of Light" was an obscure English folk song, I had some hope that another classic was being unearthed, it seems to happen with folk quite often. It's obvious the original is a bit shit though, sounds like they weren't brave enough to go full Comus. The Madonna version is probably the best thing she's ever recorded (to damn it with faint praise), but it isn't half sounding dated now.
Still, I think Madge just edges it. B

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I like B, had no idea it’s a cover, and am unable to listen because it’s “not available in my country”, which is rather ironic.
I love Like Flies on Sherbert and this is a good pick from it.

A, partly on the technicality issue, partly because I genuinely like it.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

B is a strong track from one of the best Madonna-albums. I don't have a particular big like for Alex's solo-albums but this was quite good.

I can't believe how many folks buy into the cult of Chilton. That's a shitty cover.
