As it did. Dodgers fans should heed the Indians warning. One of the three best teams from the season that went 22-0 is now out.

Glad that Strasburg manned up and pitched a good game. Gary Sheffield, Pedro Martinez and Jimmy Rollins called it a legacy defining game after what happened.

He was funny - he was walking off the mound on third strikes before the ump even called 'em.

Total badass moment for him and a beautiful pitched game. He controlled the action from start. I hope the Nationals can close it later. Also, glad the playoffs are off an eventful start.

He looked like Steph Curry turning away from the hoop when he knows a three is going in.

Let's go Cubs!

Let's go Astros!

Eduardo Perez picked the Cubs and Astros to go on this morning on ESPN.

I'm not a Bryce Harper fan, so no big deal. Lots of folks here in the Bay Area were rooting for Dr. Scald, aka Dusty Baker. That was our nickname for Baker for the way he hit line drives.

Speaking of nicknames, Phil “Scrap Iron” Garner is throwing out the first pitch tonight ...

I always liked Garner because he was drafted as an Oakland A and ended as a Giant. Just 15 games though.

Although I'm routing for Yankees Vs Dodgers.

well 2 for 2 with 2 wrong at least I knew it was going 5. The yankees shocked me although so happy they did. :D
Should have figured the Nats would find away to lose. This time its the umps fault. They can't get a break.

SO next round I'll now take

Astros over Yankees in 6
Dodgers over Cubs in 6
although I can see all four teams winning it all. Lets go Yankees!!!!

2 for 4 for you, 3 for 4 for me, and...1 for 4 for John. But of course part of that was wishful thinking, which I'm sure will continue.

Anyway, for the rest:

Astros over Yankees in 6
Dodgers over Cubs in 6

Dodgers over Astros in 7 (though if I'm honest, it can go either way)

Other predictions still welcome. And maybe Sloop can try again, thus increasing the Dodgers' chances, since we know from experience that the opposite of what he predicts is what usually happens. :P

Good game one yesterday. Keuchel always makes me a little nervous, but he was definitely dialed in and saved them from having to rely on the bullpen too much, which is the achilles heel. Altuve showed he can do it all---basically manufacturing a run when he beat out the throw for an infield hit, then stole second, then made it home on (I think) a base hit. Unfortunately for Tanaka, a stellar start amounts to nothing. I thought Houston might shred him, but he pretty much matched Keuchel (without the razzle dazzle). Hope they can start making more contact and that they get a good outing from Verlander today . . .

It was a good game. Altuve's 3 - 4 and scoring a run the way he did was pretty impressive.

I want to see a photo of him and Aaron Judge together.

I didn't know I could hate the Dodgers more than I already did, but this series has raised my hatred to a new level.

They make you more and more wrong with every game they play. that must really hurt. :P Particularly with Puig being the difference-maker. Big wah. You do the trash talk, you also have to man up when you're wrong.

I get closer and closer to removing that question mark. If we get past the Cubs - and it's looking more and more like we will - I will claim every bit of bragging rights they've earned for me.

I didn't see they weren't good, just that I hate them.

Almost to Orel and Steve Garvey limits.

What a shitshow that ballgame was yesterday! Morton throws pretty well but the Yanks get a bunch of niggling hits and two of the most chickenshit home runs I’ve ever seen (we won’t comment on Will Harris’s inexplicable decision to shake off Gattis and throw Judge some grade A cheese, up and in ... or, for that matter, the fleet footed Maybin’s decision to give up on an eminently playable pop up). And CC Sabathia didn’t seem remotely unhittable. And yet, a big W for the Yankees. The good news is that Morton and McHugh looked good and the rotation and bullpen have been the major liabilities.

Hey ho, that’s baseball, I suppose.

Here’s hoping Hinch gets something good out of the extremely flaky McCullers this evening, and that the offensive juggernaut gets going ...
