Ah, come on Wolfie! Who needs threads like this when you can talk about your satnav recommendations?

You've bcb redeemed yourself Wolfie! A much stronger selection. My feelings towards these range from like a lot to love. In order of preference:
Mother's Little Helper
Over Under Sideways Down - Both superb and difficult to separate. The Stones track has just more elements to love, but both really great.
I Feel Free- A rare case of a band's best known track also being their best.
Friday On My Mind
I'm a Boy - Very good, but a notch below their classic singles.

All pretty great - but weren't the Easybeats from Sydney? Oh well, I guess they were in London in '66, so it counts.
Probably "I Feel Free" is the one with the most staying power for me - a rare moment of brevity apart from their usual fretwankery - but you can't really go wrong with any. Nice selection.

All great, I think you could genuinely make a case for any of them. I saw footage of the Yardbirds playing that recently and was struck about how exciting it was. So that, then. Easy to hear these with jaded ears, it's a remarkable snapshot really.

I picked "I Feel Free" (is that really their best known track in the UK?), just narrowly beating "Over Under Sideways Down".

It's been used on an advert or two in recent years. 'Sunshine of Your Love' might be more famous tho'.

Ah, thanks for that.
In the US, there are at least a half-dozen that are far more familiar.

Personal faves are Yardbirds and Stones. But I think this ‘birds cut fits the category more than that Stones record.

It was their biggest hit single.
