Re: Soul Jazz Grooves
I can't remember how to post YouTube on here so I just want to say this because you guys are the only ones who would care and some of you won't either. This weekend I found a copy of Willie Mitchell's Soul Serenade on Hi Records (the silver label with red "Hi" so I think it's an original, $10. It plays VG+
at best but that is what one expects with such records. If I ever find a better one, great but until then I have a very playable copy.
Edit: Yay, me!

Excellent liner notes on that one.
Yeah, in fact i found most of the BN Rare Groove had good notes, informative background and interviews and stuff.

Nice one, G. It's a little early here for me to start digging around, so I thought I'd just post one that comes easily to mind. Should've been a classic-- from one of my cup lists a couple years back.

I urge you all to seek out any and all of the "Legends of Acid Jazz" series. I found mine priced very cheaply at the used CD shop.
Question authority.

I really recommend all the 3 Sounds records with Monk Higgins, Thang. As poppy and commercially appealing as they were clearly meant to be, they are full of wonderful playing and some very hooky tunes.

Not the most original, but this came on the other day and just sorta spoke to me.
