This is from when they all had sticky-out ears and pissed against public walls then yeah?
Lots of fun.

Finally! Looks like they're also following the Beatles' lead by only releasing a fraction of the available recordings. There will be an On Air vol. 2 before long, I suspect.
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

Fabulous.
Did they do many BBC sessions after ‘65?

Re: Rolling Stones - On Air
I don't like that note that they are putting the original mono tapes into a chopping machine, which will magically separate all the instruments and voices from each other so that they can be put back together again.
I am NOT A FAN of this process unless the original mono tapes are unlistenable. It adds distortion and unnatural artifacts, usually in service of fucking up the mix worse than it was in the first place just so they can sell a "NEW true stereo mix!".
If you have high grade bootlegs of that material, don't toss them out.
I guess it would make sense to wait and see how it sounds before shitting all over it but, that's the kind of "New! Improved!" sales pitch that makes me raise an eyebrow.
Even though, yeah, live recordings of the early Stones in high quality sounds like something I would want. So I suppose I should be hopeful not cynical.

I want to hear the version where Brian is playing Popeye The Sailor Man. Apparently he used to do this quite a lot when they played it live as he seemed to think the two were similar.

Finally -- I've always been pissed off that "Satisfaction" wasn't long or repetitive enough.

Me too. Tough to explain but that's the way I am.

I've been very disappointed with a few other original mono tape releases from Live at the BBC sessions. I therefore suspect I'll like the new "improved" stereo mixes here.

Sadly the bass was all too often lost in the mix of sixties' recordings. I would have hoped that they would have found a way to bring the bass out with these newfangled digital enhancing techniques but perhaps they just couldn't be bothered.
