Niles produced one album of hers and didn't write any material on it. Not sure why she's nothing without him. By that time she'd already released Nightclubbing and Warm Leatherette which were her best albums.

You were digging the Nile Rodgers, not the Grace Jones.

Produced by Alex Sadkin with the Compass Point rhythm section..like most of her classic stuff. Niles Rodgers had nothing to do with it.

The early stuff was Tom Moulton, I think - I love her disco records.

If someone could make a meme of a bossy Grace Jones, astride a big unicorn, feeding sloop some humble pie from a HUGE coke spoon that would be great.
You come at the Queen, you best not miss.

Arctic Monkeys - okay but nothing special and lake of hooks.
Ben Folds- few good songs nothing really interesting besides that
Ten Years After- best band on this list. Several good albums and several excellent songs.
Depeche Mode - can make up a good best of album, several great songs and lots of clunkers
Grace Jones - okay not much of an opinion
Weezer-great first album-bland since
Circle Jerks - n/A
Earth, Wind & Fire - they were good for what they were. Not really my cup of tea but still good.
Rage Against the Machine - good but not great - singer got annoying after a few listens
Olivia Newton-John - lets not get physical
Rush - good musicians and some interesting songs but never got over the singer
Robert Johnson - old blues guitarist who is part of the roots of blues. who cares otherwise.
Aphex Twin - okay but he gets too much credit for ambient music which was already around before he came along.
Peter, Paul & Mary -few nice songs
Stevie Ray Vaughn - another blues guitarist-nothing different or interesting to me
The Selecter - who?
Joan Jett - not my cup of tea. okay for what she does.
Michael Oldfield -excellent several 70's albums been okay since
The Animals- nice 60's bands lots of good songs.

No. I said her early stuff. The first three albums. But maybe they were not all Tom. But certainly not Niles.

Alright, already. I just don't like her.

My Grace Jones/Conan joke was a joke on me too but no one noticed. As everyone knows, she wasn't in Conan the Barbarian, but Conan the Destroyer.

Who knows their Grace Jones now?

I like a few from that period (love her version of La Vie en Rose), but I don't think she got really good until she teamed up with Sadkin and Sly & Robbie at the start of the 80s. While we're talking of her producers, we really should also mention Trevor Horn.
The fact she made great records with three different producers (none of whom was Nile Rodgers) does suggest she brought something special of her own to the table.

Who knew there were so many knowledgeable fans of Grace Jones?

I'll have to think twice expressing my opinion on Milli Vanilli.

Arctic Monkeys - NME-core
Ben Folds - NME-bore
Ten Years After - N/A
Depeche Mode - Some ok songs, took what Frank Tovey did and ran with it, I guess.
Grace Jones - Not my cup, but kind of has my approval anyway.
Weezer - N/A
Circle Jerks - N/A
Earth, Wind & Fire - N/A
Rage Against the Machine - I didn't mind them, they seemed a bit of a breath of fresh air in the early 90s.
Olivia Newton-John - Pointless
Rush - Horrible
Robert Johnson - Not really heard that much
Aphex Twin - 50% crap chancer, 50% genius
Peter, Paul & Mary - Horrible
Stevie Ray Vaughn - N/A
The Selecter - Not the best of the two-tone, but not bad for all that.
Joan Jett - Lumpen
Michael Oldfield - Carried away by a moonlight shadow is ace. Tubular Bells works in the context of The Exorcist.
The Animals - Eric Burdon had a proper rock voice, and some of their singles were superb.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Or Frank Sinatra. He didn't write his own songs or play the music on his albums either.

Great
Grace Jones - 9/10. Fantastic run of records; she gets some love on BCB but remains criminally overlooked elsewhere.

Good
Arctic Monkeys - 7/10. Last record, AM, was strong after some real damp squibs. Small doses enough, mind you.
Ben Folds - 7/10. At best, fuses the 70s Elton tunefulness with waspishly funny lyrics. Can tend to clever/annoying at times.
Depeche Mode - 6/10. The best - Never Let Me Down Again, Enjoy The Silence, etc - is 9/10 but the plinky plonk beginnings and the horrid rock years pull them down.
EWF - 7/10 - love the big hits, joyful. Not familiar beyond that. Suspect could go either way...
The Animals - 7/10. Better than I first thought but still second division for their time

Meh
Weezer - 4/10. Mostly rubbish, occasionally (Pork & Beans, Hash Pipe) listenable
ONJ 4/10. like a few singles but lite
Rush - 4/10. Only for Spirit of Radio, which is 8/10. I'm not familiar with the rest but suspect it's strongly not for me
Robert Johnson - 5/10. Its influential and of its time but I'd never play it.
Aphex Twin - 5/10. Overwhelming feeling of background music
The Selecter - 5/10. Couple of decent hits but very one note (not two tone)

Shite
RATM
PP&M
SRV
Joan Jett
Mike Oldfield

No bladdy idea
Ten Years After
Circle Jerks

Shite - really can't be bothered with this lot. Horrible in different ways.

He was, however, a superb interpreter who was allegedly heavily involved in every aspect of the production of his records.

I'd argue that the songs were, by and large, better as well.

She was certainly more fun to look at, I'll grant.

I'm sure. But if you did some kind of time line on the creative imput of the artists then Grace Jones would be a lot closer to Sinatra than Milli Vanilli.
