Re: Baby Driver
People keep coming to our block at the office to take pictures, talking about Baby Driver
I guess our block is famous now!

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Re: Baby Driver
Film of the year, by a country mile. The way the lyrics to Harlem Shuffle come up in the graffiti, Tequila!, the stunts were genuine, no CGI. Can't understand how people cant like it. Seen it twice. Love it!
You see, there are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity. Indeed that's what we provide in our own modest, humble, insignificant... oh, fuck it.

This does sound dreadful like Fast and Furious for hipsters.

Re: Baby Driver
According to a review I read, the gist of the film is that the director simply choreographed car chases to music he liked.
And that inconsistencies in the plot were secondary.
Under these premises, I'll certainly enjoy it.

I think G should be forced to see it.

I can actually understand the criticisms to some extent - it is flashy and insubstantial and it fits around a hip soundtrack and there are holes in the plot and and and and - but you get sucked in and it's just really very entertaining.
It has a 15 certificate, by the way, so anyone expecting Tarantino levels of gore might be disappointed. Or pleasantly surprised, even.

Just watched this and despite a slow and rather contrived start, it moved along pretty well. Loved the way that John Hamm's gun was timed with Hocus Pocus on the ST during the shoot out after the final robbery.
Anyone know if that was Nick Frost (and possibly SImon Pegg) in the opening sequence as he walks down the street with the coffee.

Re: Baby Driver
I genuinely don't get it. If there had been a single moment that was vaguely funny, clever or intelligent, or some half-decent acting, or even a single memorable scene, fine - but this movie goes straight to the bottom of any movie I've seen since the Crystal Skull. There is literally no redeeming feature that I see in it - quite the opposite, it is offensively bad. The cinema I went to see it in seemed to agree - there were moments where the audience were laughing incredulously at how bad it was, and there was at least one couple that walked out (my wife and I were extremely close to). I really am amazed to see that anyone liked it. Fair enough - clearly some people have. Some people voted Trump too.

It was fun and exhiliarating, but I felt the same way as I did about Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead - I really wanted to like it more, but a few too many jokes, or too many lines, landed a bit flat for me.

One man's fun and exhilarating is another man's tedious and predictable I guess .

Crystal Skull, you say? Sounds intriguing!
