Fuck.
Grim.
No way to rationalise it really.
Preoccupied is the right word for me. I don't take celebrity or musician deaths too hard. I may have enjoyed someone's music or art, to the point it gave me meaning and inspiration, but the art lives on, and it's not like I knew the guy or gal personally.
There are only four musician deaths that have preoccupied me.
John Lennon
Phil Lynott
Willy Deville
Chris Cornell
Probably because I think they had more to give, selfishly.
Chris Cornell, because he had two small kids who are going to have to deal with their dad's death, on just as he reaches puberty. I have a couple of good friends whose dads committed suicide. One of them was 14 and he discovered his dad, hanging, when he came home from school one day. It affects him to this day. It's what my mind went to when Lennon died - how's his son Sean going to feel now that his dad's been ripped from him.
