Re: Pink Floyd Poll
I'd been off WYWH for years, as it had been so overplayed. But I heard it in a different context a couple months ago and felt it was such an excellent album -- something I hadn't truly felt since around 1986. So miracles can happen!

It's my favourite - it's the whole 'thing'... the album cover, the 'concept' (man).... the complete disregard for convention too... and their best songwriting too. I love it pretty much unreservedly.

Re: Pink Floyd Poll
Here's how I'd rank them:
Animals
Meddle
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Ummagumma
Relics (If we can count this one)

I confused More and Meddle
please take this into account in the voting

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

How, if we don't know which you voted for? Did you vote for More but meant Meddle? Vice versa?

Anyway, I want the one that's got 'Fearless' twice, please.

I can't stand Animals. It suffers in the same way as Presence (ALS aside) from sounding like bluebottles in a jar, druggy, hollow and buzzy, all angry but impotent - Clarkson Rock.
Singles comp from Shine On
Piper..
Saucerful..
Ummagumma live record
Dark Side (I know Money is repulsive, but the rest fits in nicely with Ayers/Caravan/Softs/britjazz)

Hm. Can't say that's ever crossed my mind.
I was going to say (as I always do) that my main problem with DSOTM is the dreary vocal, but I suppose you could say the same thing about much of THAT lot's stuff, too...

Yeah it's an atmosphere thing mostly, a sort of 'shrug my shoulders, resignation/epiphany thing.

Piper
Relics
DSOTM
WYWH
The Wall
With The Final Cut, Meddle and Animals close behind and the rest of the field nowhere
It is Meddle to TFC and Piper only for me with Relics fitting in with Piper. Never really got SFOS may give it another go, the stuff between there and Meddle is mainly unlistenable dross when they were trying to find their post Syd vibe and everyone was having a go before they found out the Waters was their voice. Post Waters it is dross again.
