Van Morrison finally "forgives" Bert Berns

Postby ... » 17 Jul 2017, 18:57

On top of the - almost certainly shitty - new blues album he's got coming out (Rolly with the Punches), he's also contributed to the release of the Authorised Bang Recordings.

Much as I used to love VTM, what little respect I had for him finally dribbled away during a phoned-in greatest hits canter he did at Cork Marquee two summers ago.

Anyone going to bother getting either of these?

Nope. I already have a previous release of the Bang material and a new album is superfluous for me.

I got that set. The Contractual Obligation sessions are occasionally hilarious. And the actually-released Bang! stuff is mostly great. I haven't really listened to the disc of alternate takes. This article pretty much fills in any details I didn't guess.

I used to have the Blowin' Your Mind lp back in the 70s but I think it was lost in the flood of '90. TB Sheets was interesting to a 19/20 YO. But there was always Brown Eyed Girl to even things out.

No I think not. I haven't bought anything of his post mid 90s, although I've downloaded the odd thing since then and listened to it once or twice. Making me feel really old!
