For me, it conjures up the political, musical and social shitstorm that was the mid 80s. And that aint good.
Having said that, I always quite liked it

I prefer it now, once every couple of years, than at the time (a billion times a day) when it seemed to epitomise some sort of pseudo-sophisticated aspiration.

It's a little bland, but I quite like it, especially the "LA to Chicago". A hit.

Maybe we appreciate it more 30-odd years on - people don't make an effort to incorporate melody much today. At least you don't hear it in big hits.
I still don't like it very much and I'm voting 'SHIT'

It is very smooth, almost to easy listening levels, but i've always had a soft spot for a couple of those early Sade singles. The melody is strong, the lyrics take you away a bit, and while some people don't like her voice i've always enjoyed it.

Hit. Sade occupies a pretty unique place in current pop music. I've kinda OD'd on her albums, but she's consistently good and this was a breath of fresh air on the radio.

I wouldn't want a whole album or a whole radio sequence of stuff like it, but in context it was refreshing. Hit.

Still traumatized from its ubiquity in the day. But it's fine.

Sade was my neighbour in the early 1990s in Madrid. “La Cebada.” I love her! Not that I ever met her.

Neither - Your Love Is King is a definite HIT though. She's one of only an handful of performers who didn't look ridiculous at Live Aid and arguably the only one who looked sensational

At this distance, the whole Filofax-ness of its deafeningly signalled SOPHISTICATION is rather quaint, lending the whole thing much more charm than it had at the time. As much a period piece as Lonnie Donegan. Hit!
