They are hardly callow youths but this recently formed band have a corker of a debut album - to me the most obvious soundalike would be IQ, who, although they are hardly original themselves (but then isn't every single music on the planet closely derivative of something these days?), are a damn fine outfit themselves.

Nick Beggs is a cult hero in modern prog circles - his contributions to Steven Wilson's music are stellar - but I can't really get into his own band works (released under the moniker "The Mute Gods".
It's ok, but just doesn't really pull me in. Maybe it's the intensity of the concept which causes slight discomfort in me. Not a storyline but the album is largely about how we humans are fucking up the world.
Still, at least it's taught me something....

Tardigrades are one of the most resilient animals known: they can survive extreme conditions that would be rapidly fatal to nearly all other known life forms. They can withstand temperature ranges from 1 K (−458 °F; −272 °C) (close to absolute zero) to about 420 K (300 °F; 150 °C)[10] for several minutes, pressures about six times greater than those found in the deepest ocean trenches, ionizing radiation at doses hundreds of times higher than the lethal dose for a human, and the vacuum of outer space. They can go without food or water for more than 30 years, drying out to the point where they are 3% or less water, only to rehydrate, forage, and reproduce.

Try to ignore the rather unsavoury artwork, there's some great music here

Syncage - Unlike Here
What they say about themselves:
What it should have said is quite simple really - it's shite.
What they say about themselves:
Syncage is not metal.
Syncage is not alternative.
Syncage is not progressive.
Those are our roots.
Syncage is the formula through which music, theater and visual arts blend into one, a show where the violin encounters the electric guitar.
Syncage is a musical project which aims to sting listeners' resonance through various psychoemotional devices.
What it should have said is quite simple really - it's shite.

Now we are talking! Stunning album!
But I would go for this one, their best imo.
the production style on their past four albums is a bit to much for my ears!
There is no space, no time to breath!

The only other thing I've heard by them is the 'Sampler.'

Re: PROG CORNER [1409 pages]
New album from Matthew Parmenter and Discipline.
On 1st listen this is excellent. (A match up to their classic To Shatter all Accord.)
