North by Northwest (1959)
Voters: John Coan (8), PENK (4), Ranking Ted (5)
Position in 2011 poll: #50 (down 25)
My 4th favorite Hitchcock, and just a great film.

Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Voters: Goat Boy (10), kath (5), hippopotamus (2.5)
Position in 2011 poll: #58 (down 16)
It's long, but worth it. I love David Lean's Great Expectations too, but Lawrence is a masterpiece.

Don't Look Now (1973)
Voters: Davey the Fat Boy (5), The modernist (10), The Write Profile (3)
Position in 2011 poll: #8 (down 63)
One of my favorites. I was worried about it because I didn't vote for it this time around, so I'm glad to see it here. Truly creepy.

Citizen Kane (1941)
Voters: hippopotamus (10), Snarfyguy (5), The Write Profile (3)
Position in 2011 poll: #4 (down 67)
It would be embarrassing if this weren't on here. I figured everyone would have voted a point towards it so I didn't bother...

L’année dernière à Marienbad [Last Year at Marienbad] (1961)
Voters: joels344 (8), algroth (6), PENK (4)
Position in 2011 poll: #68 (down 3)
Sure, another good call.

The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (2003)
Voters: never/ever (6), Copehead (8), kath (5)
Position in 2011 poll: #87 (up 18)
I'm glad this made the list again. I didn't vote for it this time, and I thought it might drop off the list. Definetly my favorite from the LOTR/Hobbit flicks. And easily my favorite Peter Jackson flick.

Hotaru no haka [Grave of the Fireflies] (1988)
Voters: algroth (9), never/ever (8), martha (2)
Position in 2011 poll: New!
I'm really glad this made the cut. I didn't put a lot of points towards it but it's such a great film.

Nothing wrong with that, I just don't think this shit is that awesome is all. :)

I was surprised that I wasn't one of the posters who voted for North by Northwest. I must have gone for 'Vertigo.'
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

The Write Profile wrote:
Absolutely, there's just so much energy- from the French New Wave influenced jump-cutting to the self-effacing and surprisingly sharp performances and script, and finally, the utterly joyous soundtrack (it is the Bloody Beatles after all) that make it all of a piece. It's a film packed with great "moments" right from the opening credits.

Yeah. I think the first thing people think about is images of the Beatles running from fans and cavorting around, but I probably wouldn't care about it any more than 'Magical Mystery Tour' if it didn't actually have that kind of more edgy humor in the dialog.

I checked the list again and yeah, you went with Vertigo alongside two other Hitchcock films. No NxNW. :)

I'm ALSO surprised. I remember deliberating!

I keep meaning to come and chat about all the films, but I've been working like a mad thing.
Thanks for doing all the hardwork, though, Algroth.
It's making me want to get to watching all the ones I love, All the one's I haven't seen, and all the ones I didn't love (just to see what I missed the first time round!)

I just wanted to know what reached no.69. Now I've found out, I'll probably not bother looking at the rest of the list.
