Kraftwerk - The Collection - 3D

Postby Hugh » 26 May 2017, 14:40

What do we think?

I'm not sure myself.

I've had a browse on Tidal and from what I've heard I'm just not sure that we need another set of new mixes of these songs. These are not particularly innovative and don't sound very "authentic " for want of a better word.

Not sure about that either. Having seen them live during their 3D tours, on two different occasions, I have to say the 3D show and performance was certainly a spectacular experience. However, I see no reason to buy the collection, though.

Got the Vinyl boxset. Objectively, no it's not worth it, but I enjoy new takes on their material.

It sounds gorgeous as well.

It's different. It's like The Beatles going out and rerecording their material 30 years later for the live environment. It might be better with some songs and worse with others. Fans like myself enjoy the evolution of the songs, some of which were never played live originally, like Spacelab and Europe Endless.

Amazon have totally fucked up my order. i preordered the bluray box set. Earlier this week I got an email saying that the release date had been put back and I would get it on the 30th. Their website was still stating today as the release date. I sent an email and was told it was being put back and the website was wrong and would be corrected.

I sent a second email the next day pointing out that the website was still stating the 26th, which was also the date for other retailers. This was completely ignored and the reply restated the 30th as the date.

Third email sent pointing out that I could order it today for delivery tomorrow. Yet my pre-order was still saying the 30th. Could they please answer this specific issue. Reply ignored this.

Phone call to them resulting in a very sympathetic customer service guy. Who was going to find out why my copy was being delayed. Needless to say I've heard nowt since.

I suspect the fact that my order is over 30 quid cheaper than the current price listed has something to do with it.

The good news is that a deluxe version of Love Beach was also released today.

And I've decided. The 3D version of Autobahn is shite.

arrived this morning, two days after the release date and two days before they said it would arrive. useless twats.

watched Autobahn and half way into Radioactivity, sound is fantastic and the visuals are excellent. one quibble might be that because they don't feature that much in the concert film, is that there might not be much difference to the disc with just the tour films.

Do the vinyl have digital dl ?

Ah, never mind, the mighty Hofmanboard provided the information!
It's a sad day when one (aka me) think of the Hofmanboard
as more friendly and willing to help than BCB!
:?

the vinyls comes with digital download, only mp3 though!
A huge disappointment, one would expect more from the godfathers of digital evolution.

As for the Blu-ray, it's not really worth the money, as you get two disc with the concert albums, and two disc with the visuals (and as Jeemo already stated above, is there much difference!?)

Then we have the "minor" problem with the actual length of each album!

Autobahn 27 mins.
Radioactivity 33 mins.
Trans-Europe Express 24 mins.
The Man Machine 33 mins.
Computer World 26 mins.
Electric Cafe / Techno Pop 28 mins.
The Mix 77 mins.
Tour de France 38 mins.

So I guess I go for the CD box, Der Katalog 3-D, as I like the sound (really impressive) and it's interesting to listen to the new versions...

Been playing it since Sunday. Liking the new versions and looking forward to seeing them a week on Friday. First time they've played Glasgow since the Tour de France tour.

Is the sound quality in any way 3D if you listen to it through headphones?
