An exceedingly unpleasant one. Don't know where PM thinks he's posting.

Excellent, algroth. Great poster selections and good to see some of my "no ranking system whatsoever" selections being represented already. And Top Cat G has (sort of) returned!

Indeed! He left a list on my inbox a few days ago. Hopefully we'll hear more of him in this thread (and elsewhere too).

Re: BCB's Top 100 Films Poll (2017 edition) - RESULTS!! #100-90 UP
Yay! I needed this. What a shit week this has been.
Airplane! (1980)
Voters: never/ever (6), fange (5), The Write Profile (3)
Position in 2011 poll: New!
Great to see it get some love. By far my favorite Zucker Bros. flick, and one of the most often randomly quoted films in my family.
Boyhood (2014)
Voters: John Coan (6), pcqgod (5), The Write Profile (3)
Position in 2011 poll: New!
Okay I guess this is a good call. I mean, I get why this made the list, and as a work of concept art, it's a winner. But I just don't feel the need to ever see it again is the thing. I found it a bit longish and slow and the premise is interesting but a bit contrived. It's a really fascinating concept though,
but the actuality of it is underwhelming for me.
Get Carter (1971)
Voters: Ranking Ted (5), The modernist (6), The Write Profile (3)
Position in 2011 poll: New!
New? really? Wow. I think of Get Carter as a staple on BCB. Glad it's broken into the 100 films list.
Naked (1993)
Voters: driftin (1), martha (10), The modernist (3)
Position in 2011 poll: New!
By far my favorite Mike Leigh film. Glad it made the cut.
Heat (1995)
Voters: John Coan (4), WG Kaspar (5), Ranking Ted (5)
Position in 2011 poll: New!
I haven't seen this. I'll remedy that,
Chinatown (1974)
Voters: Goat Boy (4), WG Kaspar (5), Ranking Ted (5)
Position in 2011 poll: #20 (down 70)
Wow. Big drop for Chinatown.
Lost in Translation (2003)
Voters: fange (5), Copehead (5), Darkness_Fish (4)
Position in 2011 poll: New!
I love this movie, even though I didn't vote for it. JAMC on the soundtrack. Murray is amazing. Scarlett Johansson singing Brass in Pocket in a pink wig was worth my $9 theater ticket price. Nice to see this make the cut.
Dog Day Afternoon (1975)
Voters: John Coan (4), Davey the Fat Boy (5), WG Kaspar (5)
Position in 2011 poll: #18 (down 72)
I swear this was on my list! Can't fathom how it wasn't. I wonder what I put in instead? Oh well. Glad to see it on here. Love this movie.
Platoon (1986)
Voters: fange (5), PENK (4), WG Kaspar (5)
Position in 2011 poll: New!
Ok sure. Not my favorite war flick or Vietnam flick or even my favorite Oliver Stone flick, but it's a good film.
Blazing Saddles (1974)
Voters: Goat Boy (4), pcqgod (5), kath (5)
Position in 2011 poll: New!
New? Really. It's a classic. Honestly I just assumed it would make the list without me, so I threw my money on Young Frankenstein.
Days of Heaven (1978)
Voters: driftin (1), joels344 (8), Davey the Fat Boy (5)
Position in 2011 poll: New!
So I haven't seen it. I really hate Richard Gere. He creeps me out. I dunno why exactly, but there's something I find unsetting and creepy about him.
Thanks again Algroth for the massive task of doing this. You rock!

Arguably that kinda works in the film's favour here since the character he plays isn't the typical Gere role and has a bit of a "creep" edge to him. Well worth seeing even if you feel that way about him!

!
As well as having a terrific script and fabulous performances from the cast, what i truly love about this film is that it actually manages to cature a little bit of what living and being in the megalopolis that is Tokyo is actually like. That sense of being alone while simultaneously being surrounded by millions of people; the strange rythms, the dark and the light, of that city and its people i thought could never really be explained to someone who hasn't experienced it first hand... but Coppola was able to do it.

It is to this day the only Sofia Coppola I like, and I think it's great. Am looking forward to The Beguiled though.

Nice one algroth!
I still haven't seen Platoon and really want to.
and I hope Blazing Saddles isn't the only Brooks there....
