Fucking grim alright.
Down On The Upside was one of the first 10 albums I'd bought.

Re: Chris Cornell RIP
Really sad and shocking news, especially for us '90s kids, whose listening habits were blessed by that wave of great music coming out of Seattle, at just the right time.
RIP.
RIP.

Dang, so young to pass away that suddenly. Seems the cause of
death is currently unknown.

Bugger, he had a great rock voice. Easy on the eye too.
Perhaps naively I didn't have him down as being .. how can I put this .. the type to be at risk from od'ing. Didn't her about him being ill ...

I loved Superunknown.
Very sad and shocking.

Very sad. I didn't like Soundgarden at all, but 52 is too young.

My favourite rock singer. Huge part of the soundtrack of my life. Saw him live last year and he was better than ever. I'm stunned.

What a drag. Poor fucker. Louder Than Love spent quite a bit of time in my tape deck.

Re: Chris Cornell RIP
I know he wasn't that much younger than Prince, say, but this feels closer to my generation than other rock star deaths. After hearing this I thought about my own mortality a little bit.

Ah shit.
I'm really sad to hear about this. The man was only a half-dozen years older than me. Superunknown was a huge part of my life, and still holds a very special place in my heart.
RIP Chris.

Apparently, 'In My Time Of Dying' was the last song he sang on stage. That could be me adding 2 + 2 = 7. Grim either way.

Yeah, terrible. One of the best hard rock voices ever. I've learned a bunch of his songs on guitar. Musically, he's really a great songwriter and pulls off lots of Beatles' tricks in his songs that might not be evident at superficial listening.
Followed Soundgarden and Cornell from the start. I feel bad for his kids and family - he's had problems with drug addiction and depression in the past, but I thought that was past him.

Re: Chris Cornell RIP
RIP Chris. This was a shocker to me this morning. One of my favorite vocalists.
over the past 6 years I've got to see him a number of times (PJ20 (temple of the dog set), Chris solo, Soundgarden and last years Temple of the Dog Tour.
52 is just too young! Chris will be missed.
PJ20 -say hello to heaven - to see 40000+ pearl jam fans go nuts when their lead singer(Eddie) turned the vocals over to Chris. priceless.
PJ20 - Hunger Strike
Soundgarden - classic Chris tongue

Re: Chris Cornell RIP
I don't really know what to say about Soundgarden. As I said on FB, at the time, they were firm favorites. I bought the records the
Day they came out and, after Louder Than Love,
Never missed a tour. They got better and better on record and live until the time I saw them on tour foe their last record (96ish) when it was clear they weren't having fun. But I don't think there's a band I was more into at the time that I have less an urge to listen to now. I'd rather listen to a Jane's Addiction record now! Nevertheless, it's a stunner that he's gone. What a fucking shame. Thanks for all the good times---they were great times for me. RIP.
