Re: NOW PLAYING.
As far as noise-rock/improv goes, this album is an absolute monster. Not all ear-splitting noise, but it does all sound like an earthquake.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

For those who think KISS is too musically complex and the lyrics too intellectual:

Balam Acab -- watertree edits
4 track EP released in Feb. Rather distorted affair in comparison with everthing else I've heard from him. The first track is oddly reminiscent of an MBV outtake.

I forgot how good that Unrest record was/is (just as I sold it ). Not to damn it with faint praise but it's like a pro-version of UK schmindie. Plenty of ideas and textures, even a song that's as jaunty as the "fucking" Wedding Present but good.
Want to buy a nice vinyl version, guvnor?

I remember hearing that on YouTube years ago and loving it but ever since then I've not been able to get a proper copy.

Hopefully it's better than that other EP of his “Slopped & Wetted” which was just wretched. Even his last album wasn't particularly great. I'm starting to think this guy is a flash in the pan.

I know everyone thinks the film is escapist nonsense - I don't much care really, I love it. The soundtrack is excellent though, no matter what your opinion of the film, I'm sure you'll agree....

I never did get around to Slopped & Wetted so I can't say. I remember reading a review that mentioned it was recorded in an underwater hotel in Dubai, but that was the only thing remotely interesting about it. This EP is pretty damn boring. Not as good as Child Death, and certainly nowhere near the realm of Wander / Wonder or the See Birds EP. Non-essential is the word. Lovely cover art, though. I'd like to know who the artist is.

I think so - just finishing my first listen.
Not as immediate as Butterfly, but it feels just as dense and complex as that record. Even more so in places, remarkably. It'll take a bit of unravelling, but there are a few moments that hit hard. The track with the U2 credit is actually one of the standouts - their input is minimal and irrelevant.

Re: NOW PLAYING.
Listened to this again today. One of the finest neo-soul albums in recent memory. "Ain't That Easy" is one hell of an opening song, too.
