Your 3 favourite Pet Shop Boys songs
A group we don't talk about much, but I feel they had a bunch of fabulous singles.
Which 3 do you like best, or do you think are best?
Here are mine, for today at least -
West End Girls
Heart
Love Comes Quickly
Can't wait for hatzy to chime in with his!

3 is nowhere near enough. The first singles compilation, Discography, from the early 90s, is pretty much flawless apart from the "new" tracks. Meanwhile I prefer these three to anything on it:
"King's Cross"
"I'm Not Scared"
"You Only Tell Me You Love Me When You're Drunk"

'I'm Not Scared' is a gem, much like its parent album. Deep and hooky.

Their work with other artists should not be under-estimated - this is brilliant and the French version is even better.
Top three songs:
Paninaro
West End Girls
It's a Sin
I love the Pet Shop Boys and their albums were still good remarkably recently: only the last two and the indie-rock album really disappointed.

West End Girls, Heart, and It's a Sin are the winners for me.
"It's a Sin" was the first 12" single I ever bought. I remember not understanding that it didn't play at 33 rpm.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Once they gained self-consciousness (the "Being Boring"/Smiths you can dance to period) they crashed. Music Journalists love other Music Journalists who cross over so Tennant's lot always got a free ride but the singles from the first three records were decent.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

Come to my arms, D_F! I thought I might be the only one to really like this song - it's not one of their most immediate singles I think, more a wonderful dancefloor anthem. That "i'm in love with you" bridge just slays me.
And speaking of small bits of wonderful songs...
That little change at 00:48 when they first sing "How'm I gonna get through?", and the harmonized repeat, oh it's just magical.

Oh, the whole song is full of those moments. For me it's easily the best thing they ever did. Still gives me goosebumps. Solid gold.

Saw them supporting...some blokes...... Take That... a few years ago, and they were absolutely mega.
It's A Sin is my clear favourite- such a grandiose and stirring piece of Baroque pop.
Always On My Mind- love their brashness with this cover
Rent- tuneful and tender.
( Bubbling under - One More Chance, Heart, What Have I Done To Deserve This? )

Yes! But I could list another half dozen from their imperial phase that come close. They were pretty much faultless for a spell.

Being Boring
One thing leads to another
It must be obvious
Jealousy
I'm not scared
It's alright
