Cast - Power and Outcome

Prolific Mexican band's recent release. Massively symphonic with loads of strings and good lead guitar.

Superb stuff.

I have dipped a toe into their back catalogue before and quite liked it but this one is different League to my recollections. Anyway they only have about 20 albums to explore so I might be gone for some time...

Cast - Al Bandaluz

Quite different from the latest album (above) in that there is little evidence of strings at the forefront, there are Eastern influences, it is mostly instrumental and all lyrics that are sung are in Spanish.

Extremely long at 96 mins but very enjoyable (so far).

I started playing that the other day but only got 2 tracks in, it seemed to be a succession of prog metal clichés glued together but not actually adding up to proper songs. But I like their later albums so I'll come back to it.

Bandstand is a good album though probably just a notch below the excellent Fearless.
The Blackfield is a big improvement on the rather lackluster Blackfield IV. The increased input of Steven Wilson has everything to do with it I think.

Yes, I'd definitely go along with this, but then, Fearless, is by a way, my favourite Family album.

Saying that, Bandstand, has some outstanding moments, most notably, My Friend The Sun, and Burlesque.
