It would be right up Alan Partridge's street.

It entirely fills the brief of being a workman-like pop song. It just is.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I'm trying to think of what this reminds me of.

Johnny Hates Jazz?

Worse but on the same shite, soul-calist continuum - Aztec Camera, Stadium Simple Minds, Wet Wet Wet, Hue and Cry.

Q-minded.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

Nothing really: although I could summon some bile, it would be a little bit like kicking puppies. So glad I opted out of MSR before this sort of thing.
While they made a couple of fine records, Aztec Camera have a lot to answer for as an influence.

This one certainly speaks for itself.

Amazingly, I was somehow blissfully ignorant of its existence prior to this thread. And just look at Dave Stewart in the video acting like he doesn't know what he just did.

One rarely gets an opportunity to say "Makes 'Kokomo' sound like 'Rumble'".

Scotland's shame. What the fuck happened in the late 80s in Glasgow? Don't ask me, and I was there.
