While it's not difficult to guess that you might like that particular album by The Sound, I think my favourite would be Propaganda, or if we're sticking to canon, All Fall Down. I know it's generally regarded as their classic, but From the Lions Mouth just seems a bit lacking in something to me.

I'm not sure I can rate Curtains above the debut, either. Great album, definitely, but not quite their peak.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Propaganda is good but it's a bunch of outtakes. It's all opinions on what album one prefers but even though All Fall Down is a great album it's not as cohesive as From The Lion's Mouth and I wouldn't think the tunes measure up. I'm not sure what you thing is lacking because it's a top 10 album for me.
Taking Curtains over the debut is an arbitrary choice. I prefer the debut overall but any of the first 3 could be up there depending on which one I'm playing. I certainly wouldn't think that any of them is massively superior to the others.

The box is great but I don't think of 'boxes' very much

The extended 4-way is perfect

Black Queen!

For me, it's the one where he struck the perfect balance of rock and blues. And I love the production, his guitar tone has never sounded better or more full. Plus, it might be his best vocals album as well. Not a weak song in sight, and it has several of my top 10 Rory songs - Kickback City, Loanshark Blues, Continental Op, and Road To Hell.

A Space In Time is one of my favorite albums ever. I think Alvin was downright godly in his songwriting all over it. Great mix of acoustic and electric playing and an amazing vibe. Cricklewood would be my #2 pick though, another amazing album ("Working On The Road" is good enough to hang with anything on A Space In Time).

Agreed Chris - but it doesn't necessarily have to be your favourite band.

Try Gryphon
