I can't see the image above. Was it the new Brian Eno?
I'm playing it now. It's exactly as you would expect, in a good way. Lovely room-filling meanderings.

Is that the Iris soundtrack or something different?

Yeah, that's pretty good. I still think they're a bit overrated - everything's a bit brash and shouty, not a lot of range there - but when you're in the mood for that kind of thing...

Run the Jewels is best new album I've heard so far, new XX out on Friday, couple of released tracks seem to suggest they are going for a more mainstream sound, liked the last Jamie XX record, so open to this

Re: The 2017 new music thread
Found the Eno pleasant but the times I will want to listen to it are limited. The AWVFTS is underwhelming on first couple of listens.
Much more impressed with the new The XX album than I expected to be. They've taken their sound and developed it hugely whilst also keeping it familiar. It is quite expansive in bits but stripped back in others.
New Foxygen is good. Like a crazy musical. Not sure if it will stand up to repeated listens but after the rather dire last album it is a great improvement.

Musical is about right. It's kind of a broadway history of popular music, isn;t it? I like it, I like how honest it is – it's not trying to be anything cool, or trying to present itself as this or that, it's a kind of 'warts and all' record of where thy're at, comfortable in being who they are. And it demands repeat plays.
Nice that they use a full orchestra on every track, and cameos from lemon twigs and Steven Drozd come as no surprise.

New flaming lips out today. Not going to say return to form as they have been all over the shop these last few years but it was an alright listen, couple of great stand out tracks but as a whole it hangs together well enough for more listens.

The eno does what it says on the tin. I have had the AWVFTS since last year, it's more "moody" being a soundtrack I guess this is to be expected and I can certainly do without the bonus tracks excepting the AWB one. It has some moments of beauty but it isn't an album as a listening experience for me.

Played it a couple of times now. I like it - it is quite mellow and atmospheric and flows nicely. However, there is nothing standing out. None of those soaring moments that have been highlights from earlier albums. As a result it is very forgettable.

Looks like Goldfrapp will have something out soon. Possibly the Residents as well.
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

Re: The 2017 new music thread
Winged- is Ok but far too fragmented to make a decent listen. As Atomos did gel well being a soundtrack, this just feels like snippets found on the floor. Still, they are beautiful.
Quite like the new Sohn-album without being blown down by it.
