I wouldn't say being a Bowie fan is something you have to confess. Profess maybe. And you're being a bit hard on the Slider, he's right about some stuff!

I've been asking students about the state of the country today. They're a fucking apathetic bunch.

It will.

I have learnt that the heart and soul of BCB is not rotten.

Never, ever, EVER go and read FB groups who liberally use the words 'Wake Up', unless they are an alarm clock retail business.

For my degree I'm currently studying the effect of migrating Roman Auxiliary units on Hadrian's Wall in the 3rd Century CE. The Germanic god "Tiw" became associated with the Roman god Mars, and became known as "Mars Thingsus". From "Tiw" comes the Old English "Tiwesdaeg" which then evolved into "Tuesday".

The brand name "Hovis" was an invented name, shortened from the Latin hominis vis "The strength of man".

There was a lot of it about back in the day.
Bovril is from Bovine and Vril - a mystical life force type thing- 'the power of the coming race' in a book by Edward Bulwer-Lytton!
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.
