Westworld: the next must-see cable series?
Early reviews are very positive:

Teaser trailer:
The original movie is probably in my top 25 all-time.

Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

I'm very tempted by this, actually. I loved the original film.

Loved the film, so bit nervous about this.

I love how HBO calls it a "NEW ORIGINAL SERIES".

The billboard looks amazing.
Alas, watching the trailer, it didn't seem to be the kind of thing I would like that much.

A guess at a spoiler. You have been warned.
I'm kinda hoping they rip off blade runner and the main character (If there is one) doesn't know if he/she is a robot.

I'd never seen or heard of the film before but watching it now. I like it and so will be interested to see what the series does with the idea.

You talking about the first episode or the film?

I watched. It was interesting - I don't know if I'd go to good quite yet.
I remember seeing the original movie in my local movie theater when I was in jr. high. There were some interesting Sci Fi movies back then like A Boy and His Dog with Don Johnson, Death Race 2000, etc.

So if the first episode is anything to go by, there is only the Wild West, with no Medieval or Ancient Roman package. Which is understandable, as those options have already been covered in Game of Thrones and Spartacus. In the original film scenario I would have headed straight for Ancient Rome, I suppose.

Sandalworld doesn't really have quite the same ring though, does it?

You just know some hippie has opened up a sandal shop called that.

No Too effete by far.
This could open the floodgates to all kinds of shoddy "copycat" productions, though…
Eastworld (work in a Trabant plant in East Berlin, painting carburettors silver. Then, at night, make a dash for freedom over the Wall)
Pharaohworld (shag your siblings as a cast of thousands builds a styrofoam pyramid just for you)
Snowworld (mainly snow and polar bears. Occasional sleet)
Craicworld (life in an Irish call centre)
