I just got Giorgio Moroder's 'Son of my Father' album and spat out my spaghetti when I listened tonight and found out it contained one of my favourite samples on 'Entroducing'. I love it when that happens. It doesn't happen often!

I remember hearing (and liking) the title track on Top 40 radio in 1972. As it was credited to "Giorgio" at the time (in this country, at least), it was decades - well, at least one - before I learned that it was the same Giorgio who later produced those Donna Summer records etc.

I would say not. I certainly don't think of the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd or The Marshall Tucker Band as being "swamp rock" (even if Skynyrd did have a song called "Swamp Music").

Today I was revisiting the first Stealers Wheel album, which I originally bought when I was seven. As I listened, I tried to remember the names of the band members from when I used to pore over the LP cover fine print as a kid. (Now you all know how I got this way.) I did pretty good, but I couldn't remember the bass player's name, so I looked up the band's entry on Wiki just now.

Turns out the bass player was named Tony Williams - furthermore, turns out he was the very same Tony Williams that I saw playing with Jethro Tull five years later, at my first rock concert!

For me, that's even better than when I learned a few years ago that I had seen Trevor Bolder (of The Spiders From Mars) playing bass for Uriah Heep, the opening band at that same concert.
