Re: NUTS!
You left out macadamias. and betel nuts, not to mention right-wing gun-nuts.
But it has to be brazils. Fascinating plant. Cannot be grown commercially outside Brazil as it has a ridiculously complicated sex life

Walnuts have a wonderful complex bitter/creamy flavour. And pecans are lovely things too. But yeah - if I had to choose one then I'd probably go for brazil nuts too.

Re: NUTS!
Sticking to my roots I have to go with pecans. They have been part of my life since I was old enough to eat them. Hazel nuts are my exotic choice. I always picked them out of the mixed nut bag first. Then as a young adult discovered their greatness through exotic chocolates from Switzerland and Belgium. Brazil nuts are certainly great too and high in selenium. Almonds and walnuts, especially Marcona almonds are superb as well. Pine nuts are pretty ace too. I love nuts.

Hazelnuts for me please. They are the best when combined with chocolate. And I luv chocolate. Nuts about it even.

I've got to hand it to squirrels, they're a tenacious bunch.
Just as an experiment, I once rolled a small avocado stone gently and slowly towards one fella, could've been a girl, to see what he made of it and he grabbed hold of the small stalky end with his teeth and hauled it away.
Nonsense to the aggressiveness, I've seen more aggression on the my little pony message board......I mean I was told.

And, yes; hello!! Salted pistachios are the king of nuts. Closely followed by peanuts and hazelnuts.
Brazils are the nuts of death- all nasty and waxy and demoralising.

Nuts are great. Pistachios are probably the best, and peanuts have something that no other nuts have, but I love them all.
Pine nuts are a new thing, but I feel there should be more nuts in the world sneaking into our fancier food-stores. Why aren't our supermarkets full of the nut equivalent of starfruit and persimmons?

Michael Stipe once described the walnut as the earwax of the nut world and I think he had a point

Perhaps because peanuts aren't nuts but beans?
Agree with pistachios being the best, with chestnuts a close runner up.

Nobody actually thinks that though, do they? We all know the fact, and would say that peanuts aren't nuts in a quiz, but we also know it's not really true in real life.
